About Trundle
Situated
approximately 65km North-West of Parkes, Trundle has a population of
600.
Trundle is a rural community, with production consisting mostly of
wheat, sheep and cattle farming. An ideal alternative route to get away
from the hustle & bustle of the highway and experience the unique
Australian bush, fair dinkum Aussie hospitality and the leisurely way of
doing things.
The Heritage Listed Trundle Hotel was built in 1909 in three stages,
over three years. It is two storey's high, and built out of pise mud,
then rendered with cement. The Hotel has the longest wooden verandah in
Australia.
Trundle is also home to the widest main street in Australia, meaning you
shouldn't have any problems with angle parking.
The showground is home to the Bush Tucker Day, providing entertainment
for the whole family with music, camp food cooking, damper tasting and
old Swag stories. August is also a busy time, when the community comes
together to host the Annual Show.
Accommodation
Accommodation on offer in Trundle consists of either
camping at the local showground, or Pub-style accommodation in the
Trundle Hotel.
Sports
If it is sport that you enjoy, Trundle is home to a 18
hole golf course with sand greens. The golf club caters for families.
There are also tennis courts and playing fields on offer. Berryman Oval
has a BBQ area and play equipment. Trundle's town hall is used for many
functions throughout the year including the Easter Ball. Summer relief
comes from a splash in the 50 metre pool or in the baby pool for tots.
Meals
Trundle Ex-Service & Citizen's Club offers a great meal
choice to traveler's and families with its Chinese Restaurant. The
alternative to this is to have the publican's whisk you up a luscious
counter meal at the Trundle Hotel.
Services
Trundle offers all of the essential services, with a
cafe, newsagency, gift shop, butcher, dress shop, post office, library
and many more great shops.
If you are looking to get away from it all, The Black Range is a great
spot to go bush walking. It offers peace and quiet, bird watching
opportunities, and a picnic ground.
